Boys Night In

2M. One-Act (10 min), The power goes out on the hottest night of the year. As the thermostat rises, so does the tension between these two roommates.

"The set-up is right out of Neil Simon -- two very different dudes sharing an apartment -- but the resolution is anything but Oscar and Felix, and well worth reading. Daniel Guyton has a lot of fun in a short time and nothing is wasted. The payoff is perfect and makes you want to see it all over again." (Philip Middleton Williams, New Play Exchange, 2021)

"For every Bert who has lived with an Ernie and vice versa, this is a play about Guys! Guys far apart on the Spectrum of Guys. Not boys and not quite men, but Guys! There's barely a kind word said between them - mostly bitching and bravado - that makes the whole thing feel all the more true to life. These two dudes should not be friends or roomies which is why I believe that they are. Highly entertaining and a cinch to produce!" (Scott Sickles, New Play Exchange, 2019)

"Part of the college experience is coping with disparate personalities thrown together in random living arrangements. Eugene is not coping well. He is careful, self-aware, and buttoned down. Wayne is careless, clueless, and gross. From the beginning we know what Wayne wants. But what does Eugene want? Guyton saves that answer until the last stage direction. Great, relatable work." (Donald E Baker, New Play Exchange, 2021)
